5. The Trigger
Eventually, some flapped entrances develop a simple triggering device which allows the flap to stay open until the mouse enters the nook. Once the mouse enters, the trigger makes the flap close. This allows more mice to see and find the bait. It also gives us a better clue as to when the mice have entered the nooks.
