6. The Door
Over time, the flap becomes hard and strong, more like a door. This is a favorable mutation. Because the door is stiff, it traps the mouse completely on its own. It is no longer necessary for us to even be in the room when the mouse is caught. We can kill it when we have the time. Nature selects doors over flaps and eventually flaps become extinct.
